Welcome to St Joseph's Catholic School Queenstown

Welcome to the St Joseph’s Catholic School Website.

St Joseph’s Catholic School is situated in the remote town of Queenstown, Tasmania. Queenstown has a rich mining history and holds the reputation for once being the world’s richest mining town. It is located on the rugged West Coast of Tasmania and is surrounded by a barren moonscape, fast flowing rivers, and sits on the edge of Tasmania’s Wilderness Area.

St Joseph’s Catholic School is a warm and friendly community, where staff, students and parents practice and promote hospitality and participate in the life of the school and parish.

At St Joseph’s Catholic School, we believe in Jesus’ words ‘I have come that you may have life and have it to the full’ (John 10:10). As disciples of Jesus Christ, we value a positive learning environment that is based on our vision of excellence. Our aim is to be proactive in providing learning opportunities for our students by supporting in innovative and creative ways, as well as ensuring that St Joseph’s is a safe environment, where students’ social and emotional wellbeing is supported.

We continue our commitment to offering quality teaching and learning that draws on practice that is data informed, evidence based and aligned with the Australian Curriculum and Good News for Living. We endeavour to respond to the changing structures and environments, where teachers and students are given opportunities to utilise technology to make learning content accessible, engaging and responsive, so there are no obstacles to academic success.

History teaches our students about opportunity and struggle, and it illustrates that we are inescapably connected to our world. It is important that our students learn about how the world works, and how they see themselves working as they journey toward participation in an interconnected world. We invite you on this journey with us.
